Natural Disasters and Psychology
The recent natural disasters in Japan got us thinking about the psychology of trauma. There has been a lot of research done on the varieties of trauma, and the mental fallout from natural disasters. It is evident that experiencing such events (even as secondhand observers watching on TV) can have a detrimental effect on our mental health. It is also evident that there are as many responses to these events as there are people. Meaning no two people will respond in exactly the same way. So we have included a link to a very easy-to-understand overview of natural disasters and their impact on our mental health. We encourage you to be informed, and as always you are free to contact us for more information.
